Graphic design work for the student organization Davis Women in Business.
Davis Women in Business is a female-led organization at UC Davis that equips its members with the skills needed to be successful leaders in the world of business. I served as a graphic designer on the Marketing & Design board for two years and contributed my skills towards projects and campaigns revolving around brand identity, event planning, and merch production. I had the opportunity to design for OWN IT, an annual women's leadership conference designed to inspire young women to take action in pursuing their professional aspirations.
Approximately 1400 Instagram followers, composed of UC Davis students, alumni, faculty, business partners, local organizations and parents.
OWN IT 2021
I had the opportunity to establish the brand identity for OWN IT's 2021 conference. By connecting attendees with leaders in all fields, the OWN IT conference aims to inspire young individuals to take action and own their true selves and identities. OWN IT provides a platform for attendees to listen and to learn from role models, cultivate skills, and network with fellow peers.
My team and I chose the theme of "Rising Together" to embrace the growth and progress we have made as a community during these trying times. It is important to acknowledge how we have risen as champions throughout this past year- whether it be operating in a digital space, helping our allies in the streets, to hosting a virtual conference.
Club Recruitment 2021
For our winter recruitment cycle, we went with a visual space theme that aligned with our campaign, "Explore Endless Possibilities". Recruitment ran for a week long and during this time, we created marketing materials for various info sessions, q&a events, and professional workshops. On our social media, we also posted some Q&A's with current DWIB members as a way for members to get to know our team.
I loved that we were using rockets in our campaign and didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to animate one. For the "1 day till Recrutiment post", I created a short video using After Effects!
Fall Recruitment 2020
For our fall recruitment cycle, we went with a fruit theme that aligned with our campaign, "Bring your dreams to fruition". Recruitment ran for a week long and during this time, I created marketing materials for our Instagram highlights, social media posts, info sessions, and flyers.
Being a graphic designer for Davis' Women in Business was a profound learning experience that went beyond the realms of design. It involved immersing myself in the organization's mission, collaborating with diverse teams, understanding the unique challenges women face in the workforce, and adapting to a dynamic, lean environment. One of the key aspects of my learning journey was gaining a deeper understanding of the organization's values. This knowledge became instrumental in how I shaped the visual identity and messaging for various campaigns.
Collaboration played a pivotal part in my role. Interacting with diverse teams and individuals, each bringing their unique perspectives and experiences, broadened my creative horizons. I became more attuned to the importance of visual storytelling in conveying messages that inspire and ensured that the designs were representative and inclusive.
